History of the Funiculars
The funiculars were built in the late 1800s to transport miners and their equipment up and down Lookout Mountain. The original funiculars were powered by steam, but they were later converted to electricity. Miss Mellie was built in 1908 and is the oldest of the two funiculars.

Miss Mellie is a two-car funicular that can accommodate up to 60 passengers. The ride up the mountain takes about 5 minutes and offers stunning views of Clear Creek and the surrounding mountains. At the top of the mountain, there is a small park with picnic tables and benches. Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails and scenic overlooks.
How to Ride Miss Mellie
Miss Mellie operates year-round, weather permitting. Tickets can be purchased at the base of the funicular. The fare is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12. Children under 6 ride free.
