Reasoning Problems
Here are the reasoning problems:
- Problem 1: There are three boxes, each containing two balls. One box contains two white balls, one box contains two black balls, and one box contains one white ball and one black ball. The boxes are labeled "White," "Black," and "Mixed," but each label is incorrect. You can only draw one ball from one box. How can you determine which box contains the mixed balls?
- Problem 2: A farmer has 12 sheep, 6 cows, and 8 pigs. He wants to put all of the animals in the same pen, but he only has enough room for 10 animals. How can he do this?
- Problem 3: A man is driving a car. He sees a woman standing on the side of the road with a flat tire. The man stops to help her, but he realizes that he doesn't have a spare tire. He drives to the nearest gas station and buys a new tire. He then drives back to the woman and helps her change her tire. As he is leaving, the woman says, "Thank you so much! You saved my day." The man smiles and says, "No problem. I'm just glad I could help." As the man drives away, he realizes that he has never seen the woman before. How did he know that she had a flat tire?
- Problem 4: A train leaves Chicago at 10:00 AM and travels at 60 mph. Another train leaves St. Louis at 11:00 AM and travels at 70 mph. If the two trains are traveling in the same direction, at what time will they meet?
- Problem 5: A man has two sons. The older son is twice as old as the younger son. In 10 years, the older son will be four times as old as the younger son. How old are the sons now?
